This lovely "Cascade" glass abstract wall piece is made from many different colours of Bullseye art glass and is made by stacking strips of different coloured glass 8 to 10 layers high and tack fusing them together in a kiln to form a bar. When the layers of glass are fused (stuck) together and cooled, the bar is then cut into different shapes on a tile saw. The chunks of glass shapes are then weighed and a calculation is made as to how big the size of glass will likely flow to when it is melted. A dam to contain the glass is constructed in a kiln in this size. The glass chunks are returned to the kiln and placed inside the dam in a random pattern and fired to a very high temperature so that the glass will naturally flow into unique patterns so no two pieces of glass art using this method will ever turn out the same. Have a look at the photos and you'll see the pieces in the kiln before they are fired. The piece is then coldworked by hand, (finished by grinding off any rough or sharp edges)  then finally  it is lightly sandblasted to give a smooth, matt finish. The piece measures approximately 22.5 cm wide X 32 cm high. It has an acrylic hanging system adhered to the back of the piece which fits into a receiving bracket (supplied) which is screwed to the wall in the required position by the purchaser.

Inspiration: When I look at this piece I see a cascade descending through the landscape, hence its name. One of the things I love about these 'flow factor' pieces is that everyone sees something different. What do you see in it?
