The photos don't really do justice to this dish, it's an item that gets more interesting the more you look at it. I created it using a tapestry technique that gives it a 3D effect, and I'm sure you'll get endless pleasure from it too. It's approximately 20.5 cms by 22.5 cms in size.
To make it, I placed glass stringers (spaghetti-like lengths of thin glass) in a pattern onto a clear base glass and fired the glass to fuse everything together. When the glass had returned to room temperature, I measured and cut strips of the glass and then re-assembled the glass in a different pattern and fired the glass again to give the effect of tapestry. To complete the final stage, the glass was placed on a mould and gently fused so it has a gentle curve. This dish can be enjoyed as a piece of artwork, or put into practical use to place fruit, cakes or even a candle on.
